Journey to Me

Proiectul a pornit de la premisele unei lucrări mai vechi în care îmi exprimam frustrarea de a nu putea călători în spațiul european, proiect pe care l-am conceput în perioada studenției. Gândeam atunci să expun niște fotografii  foarte mici de mărimea unor monede cu obiective turistice din țări inacesibile nouă românilor în acel moment noi nefăcând parte din comunitatea europeană. Mărimea foarte mică a imaginilor devine asffel o metaforă a accesului aproape imposibil al românilor  de a intra în  acele țări.

Seria de fotografii comunică cu fotografiile din vechiul proiect prin inversarea felului de a privi. Dacă în primul proiect realitatea evidentă era neplăcută pentru mine și mă privea printr-un orificiu minunscul, acum eu m-am întors spre realitate și printr-un efort de recuperare încerc să redau dreptul de existență și  celorlalte elemente din realitate.

The project started from the premise of an older work in which I expressed my frustration of being unable to travel in the European space, a project that I thought about during my student years. At that time I was thinking of exhibiting some tiny photographs the size of coins with tourist attractions in countries inaccessible to Romanians, as we were not part of the European community. The almost impossible access for Romanians to these countries is metaphorically represented by the very small size of the images.

The series of photographs communicated with the images of the old project by reversing the way of looking. If in the first project, the obvious reality was unpleasant for me and looked at me through a minuscule orifice, now I have turned towards reality, and in an effort of recovery, I try to restore the right of existence to the elements of reality.
